Real 404s for probes and missing assets
Dotfiles, known credentials and build files, backups and selected non-WordPress probes can be rejected before PHP. Missing CSS, JavaScript, images and fonts return 404. Ordinary WordPress paths still reach its router, so genuine permalinks and plugin routes continue to work. A blanket "only WordPress filenames" allowlist would break plugins.
SEO routes preserve application ownership
Primary-host and HTTPS redirects preserve paths and queries. WordPress or an SEO plugin still supplies robots.txt, XML sitemap content, canonical tags and structured data. There is no global trailing-slash rewrite, generic XML block, or User-Agent block for search crawlers.
WooCommerce private boundaries
Page caching is off initially. If enabled, mandatory routes, all queries, authorization and private-session cookies bypass reads and writes. Set-Cookie and upstream cache restrictions are respected. Add translated cart, account, checkout and form URLs. Protected product files use an internal location rather than a public static-asset cache.
Module and release requirements
The 15 October 2026 documentation baseline uses current HTTP/2 syntax. HTTP/3 is optional and documented as experimental; it requires a Linux QUIC build. Brotli needs the external filter and/or static module for the modes selected. Deprecated HTTP/2 push, old TLS versions, X-XSS-Protection and automatic OCSP stapling are omitted. Let's Encrypt ended its OCSP service in 2025.
